I really enjoyed my trip down to Morriston, Florida for Father's Day weekend. Morriston is near Ocala, which of course, is the horse capital. There are horse farms stretching farther than the eye can see, miles and miles of fencing, acre upon acre of gorgeous green pastures dotted with live oaks hanging thick with moss, and horses everywhere. And a tack shop practically on every corner. It was paradise!! Laurie's pretty farm is no exception. A gorgeous 10 acre farm with lush pastures and a tree-lined drive. Horsey heaven!
We enjoyed a day of shopping the tack stores and took a trip out to Cedar Key on the Gulf Coast. The picture is Dad and I at Cedar Key. Cedar Key is a quaint fishing village/tourist area that time has truly forgotten. Not much development here at all save for a few condos that Dad says are new since his last visit here over 15 years ago. Not much else has changed and actually, it could use a bit of refurbishment. However, we had a great lunch at a small restaurant overlooking the water (my fried clam strips were yummy!), looked through the stores and talked to the locals. At only an hour drive from Morriston, it is a great day trip!
Of course, the visit was over all too soon and I was jetting my way back to Rome. I'm already looking forward to the next time we can all be together. The sooner the better!! Thanks to Dad and Laurie for a great weekend!
