Scrapbooking weekend

Posted by Dana Lynn Thompson

Scott was away this past weekend playing a wedding in St. Simons, so between yard work and watching football, I scrapbooked three layouts. I finally scrapbooked the pictures from the 20 year anniversary party we had last year for me and B. I love seeing the picture from 1985 next to the one from 2005. My how time flies.

Ok, so my next March of Dimes tidbit for the week. I figured I'd go in chronological order and give some interesting facts from the inception of the March of Dimes up to present day.

Did You Know?

In the late 30's, polio raged across the country, crippling and killing children in record numbers and families lived in dread that their loved ones could be next. Even the nation's president, FDR, was stricken with polio at age 39 and was unable to walk without assistance for the rest of his life. But FDR never allowed polio to hamper his actions and impede his ambition. Nor was he about to let it continue to harm America's children. In 1938, FDR established the March of Dimes to face down the enemy and defeat it.

Next week...how did the March of Dimes get it's name?
