Christmas carols come early at Shorter

Posted by Dana Lynn Thompson

This past weekend Scott and I enjoyed a lot of good music. First we attended a $1000 and up donor appreciation dinner and party at the Booth Western Art Museum on Saturday night complete with my favorite cowboy singer....Scott!
Then we hightailed it over to Big Texas Valley where we heard the Paul Thorn Band in a barn turned concert venue. Absolutely awesome! If you have never heard of Paul Thorn...part comedian, part genius songwriter, part great singer... then check out his website at www.paulthorn.com. He rocks! We especially enjoyed his songs "Burn Down the Trailer Park Down" and "Joanie the Jehovah's Witness Stripper". He is one funny guy and a very clever songwriter. Super entertaining!
Sunday night we enjoyed a wonderful concert of Christmas carols at the Rome City Auditorium presented by the Shorter Chorus and Chorale and the Spivey Hall Children's Choir. We truly had a musical weekend!
I'm posting a thank you card I made for Dr. Price (the chairman of the board of trustees at Shorter) and his wife who generously gave us a smoked turkey and homemade corn meal for Thanksgiving. I love making cards because I tend to use my stamps more than I do on my layouts. Hope you like it!
