Hey....where is our mailbox??

Posted by Dana Lynn Thompson

Last night I came home from work and our mailbox was, well....missing. A guy was driving down our street (not any guy, but the guy who did our home inspection for us when we moved in two years ago), swerved to miss a dog on the street (not one of our dogs), got his tire caught in the ditch on the other side of the road and couldn't recover. No one could recover from that...it is quite a big drop off! He took out our mailbox, the fence and all the hedges and landed in the field across the street. His Suburban had a broken grill and was dinged and scratched up on the side.

But there are still people left in this world with morals (sometimes I wonder) and he left a note on our door and stopped back by to tell us he'd be replacing our mailbox. Actually, we come out better in the deal. Our mailbox has been hit by a bat one too many times, the door didn't shut and when it rained our mail got soaking wet. We should be thanking him for putting it out of its misery!

Hang in there! Sometimes people can be such jerks. You know better... Merry Christmas!
