Here we are four days into 2006 and I haven't written out my New Years Resolutions. My theme this year is "Live What You Love" based on the great book by "Live What You Love: Notes on an Unusual Life" by Robert and Melinda Blanchard. In the book, they share random experiences that illuminate their philosophy, which can be boiled down to: Only do the things you love. Well, duh! This seems like common sense to me and I'm not sure why it even needs to be spelled out for me.
Scott and I have probably been living this way all along, with some minor exceptions. But this year I'm making it my priority to be conscious of how I spend my time. Here are my resolutions following this path.
1. Spend more time with the horses - almost losing Jazmin this December brought into sharp reality how short our time is together. I need to spend more time with Bolshoi while he is here.
Riding and training horses brings joy to my heart and a sense of contentment to my soul. Showing has been my lifelong passion that I have ignored for far too long. Look out George, we are off to show this year!
2. Start my own small business - my inner self is constantly reminding me to pursue my creative endeavors with a little enterprise of my own. Maybe sell some stuff on eBay or design websites. It has been a little dream of mine. This year I will listen. I will not be afraid of failure. I will see only opportunities and challenges and not obstacles. I will take baby steps outside of comfort zone.
3. Nurture my creativity - by spending more time creating scrapbooks, sewing and writing. (I guess this blog is a good start!) And less time watching tv. When I think of all that could be accomplished, the joy of time spent following my bliss, really DOING and not just BEING, I am excited! It is the possibility of a life lived to its fullest and talents realized.
The Practical Side
1. Pay off some debt and follow through with plan to pay off mortgage in 10 years.
2. Pay attention to my outer self for inner well-being. Get a regular massage. Take some yoga classes. Maybe join a gym.
3. Use up some of my scrapbook supplies...to make room for more new stuff! Ok, this is in direct conflict with #1, but ya gotta have fun right??
Check back in next year where I'll review how well I've done. 2007 will be here before we know it so I better get started!
