WalkAmerica!

Posted by Dana Lynn Thompson

This morning we participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica at Berry College. The weather was absolutely gorgeous...sunny, breezy and not too hot. Jazmin enjoyed her 4 mile ride in the stroller and even walked a bit on her own.

The four girls from Floyd County Gov - Christina, myself, Linda and Katrice were there to represent the County and we were named "Best New Team" this year. We had only 6 walkers and raised $1500. Thanks to everyone who donated money to this worthy cause and thanks to Julie who let us use her jogger stroller. We personally raised $560, just short of our $600 goal. We'll make it next year!

This was so much fun and we are definitely going to participate again next year. We'd love to get a "friends and family" team together to raise money and walk. I will be on the WalkAmerica committe for Floyd County next year to help with PR and to really raise awareness of this event. I think we can get more people involved.

Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to walking with all of you next year!
