Just recently a bill was passed designating the third Saturday in July as National Day of the American Cowboy, a salute to our western heritage and the cowboys who helped make this land great.
To celebrate the day, we joined some friends for an official National Day of the Cowboy celebration. The purpose behind this gathering was to honor the cowboy way of life, but also to bring together and solidify those people in Georgia who love the western lifestyle.
We were treated to an authentic chuck wagon dinner of chicken fried steak, beans, biscuits, potatoes and peach cobbler prepared by an award winning chef in the traditional frontier way over an open fire in cast iron skillets. Scott joined other musicians to entertain the crowd with old and new cowboy songs and we were treated to a gorgeous sunset reminding us of the West we were honoring that day. We are already looking forward to next year's celebration! Giddy up!
